You can truly benefit by approaching scripture in a new way-- by asking the Holy Spirit to reveal His truth to you. And the ancient and most up-to-day art of "lectio divina" is a tried and true method of soaking in the scriptures and pouring them into every part of you-- so much so that they influence your life, your direction, and the things you CHOOSE to do on a daily basis. After all, by feeding on the 'milk' of the scriptures properly-- and not starving ourselves of thirst-- we can then DO the very things the verses tell us to do. Years ago, my family travelled to Tuscany for an unbelievable vacation, and my mother insisted we take a road trip to see the painted frescos in Assisi. "Assisi!!!" we balked as we got out our maps and tried to determine how long this fiasco of a side trip would take-- not factoring in the exhorbitant cost of tolls along Italy's highways.
